Couple #9 – Jessica & Jordan

Their Story…

Little girls dream of their wedding day with high hopes and big plans. They want the perfect dress, the freshest flowers, the most beautiful venue and of course the man of her dreams. I was never one of those girls, yet I have developed a craving for all of these things and more from the moment Jordan asked me to share the rest of my life with him. Little did I know that saying “yes” was the first and last easy decision in this endeavour. Between finding the setting to match our theme, struggling with finances and actually enjoying the process, I have my work cut out for me!

Luckily, Jordan and I have similar tastes when it comes to wedding details. We both love the look of classic cars and vintage memorabilia, so it’s only fitting that our wedding has a retro theme. If we win this contest, we couldn’t ask for a better setting than the Retro Suites and downtown Chatham. Not to mention the photo ops at our disposal with an amazing photographer behind the lens. Unfortunately, with the budget we have in mind, paying for all of this on our own is not an option.

Sadly, like may others in Chatham-Kent, Jordan is currently laid off and I am self employed as a Registered Massage Therapist. This makes it difficult to set a monetary amount for each wedding necessity as my monthly income varies depending on the amount of clients I see. Put simply, our wedding budget is at the mercy of the struggling economy. This is both scary and frustrating, especially because both Jordan and I have big expectations and a lot of family and friends we’d like to include in our day. Not having to worry about the cost of stunning invitations or fabulous flowers would be a huge relief. It would also allow us to focus on the most important thing – making the commitment to spend the rest of our lives together.

Jordan and I have been together for over 5 1/2 years, and I love that he can make me laugh until I wheeze, ease my crazy worries and support me through anything. We bring out the best in each other. I get butterflies thinking about walking down the aisle toward him and our future. I think most of our family and friends are ecstatic that we are making it official too! I can’t begin to count the number of times we were asked when we were finally going to get married. It would be fantastic to celebrate with all the special people who have supported us all of these years. What a better way ring in our new life together than to dance the night away with an incredible local band, a brilliantly decorated hall and a rare variety of rooms to rest and recover after our nuptuals.

I may not have had an inkling of my dream wedding when I was a little girl, but I definaly have a vision for our day now. I know I want it to be magical and memorable. With the help of Chatham-Kent our dreams can become a reality, so please vote for us to make our wedding day a spectacular dream come true. After all, it is going to be the best day of our lives!
