Couple #8 – Jenn & Greg
Their Story…
Ever since I was a little girl I dreamt of a Cinderella wedding, the big princess dress, flowers everywhere, the man of my dreams and all my friends and family there to witness this wonderful day. Unfortunately you grow up and realize that every single detail costs money. My fiancé and I met in grade 9 at UCC and we became best friends from that moment. We are inseparable doing everything together, Greg was the person that I could go to with any problem no matter what time it was or no matter what he was doing, he was always there to listen. On March 17, 2005 Greg left to go to Cancun for Spring Break with a bunch of his friends. At 4am on March 18 I received a phone call from one of Greg’s friends saying that Greg was missing and one of the other friends was found dead on the beach at a different resort. At that moment I knew Greg was so much more to me than just my friend. The thought of never seeing him scared me to death and all I wanted to do was fly to Mexico and find out what was going on. They ended up finding Greg outside of the resort injured, not knowing what had happened. The hardest thing I ever had to do was to tell him one of his best friends was dead. I wished I could just hold him and tell him everything would be okay but all I could do was promise we would get him home as soon as possible. The moment he came through that terminal at the Detroit Airport was the moment our lives changed forever. Greg no longer was just my friend he was the man I knew I was going to spend the rest of my life with. It was so hard to lose a friend the way it happened with so many unanswered questions, but it made us who we are today.
About 2 years ago Greg and I bought a house in Chatham. We were both working with great jobs at the time but with the economy the way it is, I ended up losing my job. I decided to go back to school for nursing and to work with children. I am currently in my first year of nursing at St. Clair College and everyday is hard and stressful. Part of this is due to dealing with my previous student loans and new loans that I have incurred since going back to school. When we bought the house we knew that the roof needed to be redone but we thought we had a few years left before we fixed it. Unfortunately the roof gave way causing our ceiling to cave right in our living room. With what little money we did have for the wedding we had to use to fix the roof and living room. That was a hard day knowing that my dreams for my picture perfect wedding were going down the drain.
I then heard about this wonderful opportunity to win a wedding in Chatham and I knew that this was something that could make all my hopes and dreams come true. The day Greg asked me to marry him was the easiest YES I have ever answered and I just want to give us the wedding we deserve with everything we have been through as a couple. I know I am the luckiest girl in the world to be able to marry my best friend and I want to make our day as special as our relationship. Please consider voting for us and helping us to make our dreams come true of a picture perfect wedding day.
Thank You
